Difficult Access Glass Installation

After searching for months for a suitable contractor that could replace the roof atrium glazing at Newton  Chambers in Birmingham, property management specialists Pennycuick Collins appointed Rope Task to complete the installation of 4 glass elements. Each element measured 3000mm x 600mm and posed a real problem for installation as there was no room to set up a crane that could lift the elements to the roof.

After carrying out several site visits, Rope Task wrote a risk assessment and method statement that would allow the glass to be safely transported to the roof area and installed without risks to the residents of the building.

Rope Task used our rigging and IRATA rope access skills to access rooftops and the glass structure both from roof level and below the glazing elements on the internal side of the atrium.

Specialist skills are required to complete rope access works, the need for proper supervision of all operatives is essential along with control and inspection of rope access equipment and the need for a comprehensive rescue plan.
