Rope Task have completed the difficult task of installing new energy efficient lights to one of British Gypsum's manufacturing plants in the UK.
From the photograph you can see that below the working area many hazards existed from the manufacturing and bagging process, also access was not possible from above the work site and all substantial anchor points were spaced at least 6 meters apart.
This resulted in a complex rope access plan being implemented along with extensive risk assessment and method statements to satisfy the clients safe working procedures. We also employed the services of a time served electrician that also had the necessary rope access training and skills to access the underside of the plants roof.
Using horizontal tensioned ropes attached to ground level anchor points, we installed ropes that could be climbed from ground level and also anchored at ground level so that any rope access rescue could all be operated and controlled from floor level, eliminating as much work at height as possible.
Old lights were removed and lowered from the roof using rope access lifting and lowering techniques so that the electrician and additional rope access technicians could lift and install the new lights to the required area.
All of the works were completed on time to the clients satisfaction.
