Rope Task last week completed the specialist coating of steelwork under the main swimming pool area of The Abbey Hotel & Golf Club in Redditch Worcestershire. This involved access to a confined space and special planning to eliminate the risk involved with working in this difficult to access area.
Risks that needed to be eliminated included, working in confined spaces, demolition, COSHH controls with the chemicals present in the confined space and also with the use of a four stage coatings system to the steelwork.
Emergency planning was included in the risk assessment for working in the confined space, which included all regular PPE being supplied along with personal gas monitors and escape sets issued to all operatives. Along with a rescue plan for evacuation from the confined space should an emergency arise.
Rope Task operatives are all NC4 confined space trained for high risk areas under the City & Guilds training programme and operate confined space operations in and around the Midlands area on a regular basis.
Rope Task have built a reputation for solving problems at height using rope access techniques or below ground using our specialist confined space services, for many customers across the West Midlands.
