Serious complications can result in loose cladding on high rise buildings. Rope Task were tasked with the difficult job of securing a number of loose cladding panels on a city centre 19 floor apartment block. Access would be slow and complicated using traditional scaffold access, using specialist rope access allowed us to easily access the problem elevation, using a combination of structural steelwork and specialist mobile deadweight anchors.
Rope Task supplied two IRATA level 3 rope access supervisors with over 35 years of experience between them to liaise with the client, produce detailed method statements and risk assessments, setup the rope access system and complete the job in hand safely and to the client’s schedule.
Our specialist team also carried out inspection and load testing of roof top fallprotection safety systems, structural steel, handrail edge protection and fixedsafety ladders so that all high level areas were safe to access and held current test certification to comply with health and safety legislation.
Using specialist tools and fixings the team descended down the building and secured over 500 cladding sheets in 5 days, eliminating the risk of cladding panels falling from the building. Exclusion zones were manned and monitored to protect residents and pedestrians below to ensure safe completion of the job.
